-Santa Maria Maggiore is the first church Pope Francis says mass at when he returns to rome and was also the first church he said mass after being ordained.
– Under the altar there is a said to be an original piece of the manger Jesus was born in.
– The Basilica Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri interior was designed by Michelangelo
– It is said that if you throw a coin over your left shoulder into the Trevi Fountain that you will return to Rome in love.
